The turn-of-the-twentieth-century Union Depot is the site of the Elgin Depot Museum. Historical exhibits showcase Elgin’s progress from a startup town through today. Staff are happy to help with genealogical, archive and historic photograph searches.

The end of October brings great food, excellent music and more to Elgin with the annual Hogeye Festival. The widely-celebrated event features live music and entertainment, handmade arts and crafts, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, a Vintage Farm Equipment display and more.

Pizza crafted for more than 30 years is the calling card of Aviator Pizza & Drafthouse, along with a seemingly endless list of beers and wines.

Central Texas has become a renowned ‘Barbeque Belt’ and Elgin is a vital stop along the Texas BBQ Trail. With years of culinary experience as the Sausage Capital of Texas, Elgin is home to superb stops like the Southside Market and Barbeque, famous for serving their Original Hot Sausage for more than a century, and Meyer’s Elgin Smokehouse BBQ, a multigenerational eatery using fresh ingredients since 1943.

Downtown is the perfect location for the art studio and gallery, the Clever Tiger. As a working studio and functioning gallery, it is a favorite for art education and exhibition.

Folks come from all over to sample the unique combination at this wine bar and home goods store.

Elgin Farmers’ Market is a year-round, weekly market. We meet every Thursday from 4-7pm at Veterans’ Memorial Park in downtown Elgin, TX. Our amazing vendors grow or make all the products they sell – from tomatoes to baked goods to soaps, we’ve got something for everyone!

Run by local volunteers, we focus on building community while supporting local farmers and businesses. We host live, local music every week and a seasonal monthly outdoor yoga class.

In April 2023, Damian and Leia Prause, the owners of the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring, TX, purchased the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm. The family plans to run both farms with the help of their children, Michael and Erin, and Erin’s husband Holden.

The Prauses have over 25 years of experience in the choose-and-cut Christmas tree business. Damian and Leia became good friends with Marc and Twyla through the Texas Christmas Tree Growers Association, and they plan to keep the same spirit of the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm alive while implementing a few practices of their own. The Prause family is grateful for the opportunity to keep the tradition going for all of the loyal guests and friends of the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm.

Elgin’s farm on Monkey Road, Evergreen Farms, became a reality in 1989 when Mike and Beth Walterscheidt bought the property with the intention of establishing a high-quality family farm for Central Texans. The first trees were harvested in 1996 and the Pumpkin Hunt began in 2001.

Since then, the farm has grown to hosting thousands of Central Texans during the Pumpkin Hunt and tree harvesting seasons.

She Creates is a community of women makers, artists, entrepreneurs, and others living in, and around Elgin, who are interested in cultivating a community of support, learning, and inspiration.

The Elgin community highly emphasizes arts and culture, led by the Elgin Arts Association. The organization seeks to further artistic understanding and growth by promoting local creative interest, education, knowledge and skill. Its Pearls Before Swine Art Show is the group's highlight event, typically in conjunction with the Hogeye Festival.
