Parks

Elgin is deeply committed to outdoor spaces for its community members. The Parks & Recreation Department manages six parks, including the Shenandoah Soccerpark and Greenbelt, a 40-acre park with open green space, a hiking/biking trail, five soccer fields and more. Another unique feature is the Edible Arbor Walk, a pathway through Elgin Memorial Park of beautiful fruit trees. Morris Memorial Park is complete with the Elgin Municipal Pool and a fishing pond. Veterans Memorial Park is located in the heart of Elgin’s historic district and is undergoing a $4 million expansion, including a large playscape with a zipline, splash pad and theater.

Golf

Four premier golf courses near Elgin offer golfers of all levels the opportunity to hit the links. ColoVista Golf Club is beautiful amidst rugged topography overlooking the Colorado River. Lost Pines Golf Club, formerly Wolfdancer Golf Club, is an award-winning 18-hole championship course complemented by a spa and water park. Bastrop Country Club at Pine Forest is a challenging course and an excellent locale for private events. ShadowGlen Golf Club offers reasonable membership opportunities and a Player Development Program to improve your game.

Indoor Recreation

The Elgin Recreation Center offers indoor recreation and fitness, with a full-sized basketball and volleyball court, a fitness room and a hardwood multi-purpose room.

Outdoor Recreation

Elgin residents love the opportunity to get outdoors! Camping, hiking, biking and fishing are just some of the activities at Buescher State Park and Bastrop State Park. Lake Bastrop is a favorite spot for carp, catfish, crappie, largemouth bass, perch and sunfish fishing. Between Elgin and Austin, the 1,200-acre Lake Walter E. Long is also popular for numerous activities on the water. Closer to home, the fishing pond at Morris Memorial Park offers the chance to take the family for a quick fishing trip in Elgin.
