Music is good for the body and soul. It reduces stress, boosts mood, and enhances performance. It also brings people together, and for the past two years, Elgin Music Festival has been bringing people together to enjoy good music, good times, and good neighbors.
That tradition will continue April 9-11, when the Elgin Arts Association will for the third consecutive year turn downtown Elgin into a walkable, welcoming feast of phonics. This year’s expansive, eclectic lineup will feature local and regional favorites with performances that range from quiet acoustic jams to horn-driven funk and Latin celebrations, country twang to indie experimentation.
Elgin Music Festival has grown in popularity in the years since it launched in 2024 as a grassroots effort to strengthen community and highlight local talent. The festival has become the most visible manifestation of the Elgin Arts Association’s mission to create accessible opportunities for artists and meaningful experiences for the community. Visitors to the festival can enjoy a long weekend of live music, food from a variety of local vendors, and other community activities.
“Elgin and Central Texas have a remarkably diverse and talented population of musicians, and having so many take the stage in such a short span highlights the breadth and depth of that talent while also bringing life to downtown,” said Kristina Alvarez, Main Street Manager for the City of Elgin. “In a short time, Elgin Music Festival has become a wonderful way to showcase the talent in the area while also bringing people together in a way that strengthens our community.”
The Elgin Arts Association produces Elgin Music Festival in conjunction with the City of Elgin and a dedicated group of local partners and volunteers. This year’s Elgin Music Festival lineup includes, in part:
- Malford Milligan, an Elgin-based soul and blues staple;
- Superfonicos, which fuses latin rhythms, funk, soul, and rock for a life show that’s sure to get the crowd on its feet;
- Hard Proof, an Austin-based funk and soul band;
- Righteous Intonation, which blends reggae, soul, and roots-driven sounds to emphasize groove, message, and unity;
- Alicia Adkins, an Elgin-based songwriter who performs Americana, folk, and roots music.
- Llama Tiva, a playful band that mixes Latin, rock and alternative influences;
- Leti Garza, and Elgin-based singer-songwriter; and
- JustHannah, an Elgin artist known for warm vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and inviting stage presence.
